A Place Set For Two

The chairs rest, empty

with a place set for two

Time ticks by slowly

as silence looms large

The absence of presence

grows grand with the moments,

waiting for something

to break status quo

But nothing and no one

comes to claim the seating

It stands there, abandoned

not knowing what’s missing

A place set for two

and a void left by all

Keeper of Stories

Keeper of stories that weren’t mine to know

Bearer of secrets never meant to share

Another’s soul spilled out all over me

Then quickly sealed away as was supposed to be

Finding my way down a road laid for someone else

Nearly lost my head when the wall came down

Tried to push on through though I knew the truth

That what rested at the end was never mine to see

But oh for that brief moment I believed

And that assurance lifted me so far beyond my place

Comforted and carried me long past my destination

To where I could no longer see reality

Blinded by the way those moments made me feel

Taking it for granted that the experience was shared

Assuming I knew all the rules of the game

But I was the only one that cared to play

Too busy breaking my own heart in fantasy

To watch her walk away when asked

For something that she couldn’t give

Despite all that she’d taken from me

Not finding it within myself to let go

Of the last thing that held me aloft

Instead I grasped so tightly

And felt it as it slipped away

To trouble me from afar

Reach The End

The fog clings tight to the road ahead

Yet still we stumble on

Pulled by strings that no one sees

Caught tight, tugged ever onward

Down a path we’ll never know

Until we reach the end

And find all we’ve been searching for

Lies just a little further down the way

Our lives an endless journey

Made of the moments across the distance

Landmarks and memories found along the path

Moments of Fiction

It wont matter soon
so don’t make me face it yet
Just let me feel something
right here, right now
Fake it for a while
Let me think you care
Let me believe today
won’t be all I have
(Tomorrow you can leave)
Grant me the moments of fiction
that I may hold so tight
when the sunrise hits
and the light bares the deception
Just give me this glimmer
of what I’ve missed so long
No need to tell the truth
the lies will get me through

Little Moment Memories

A smile, a sigh,

The little moment memories

That carry me through

That look, that damn look

That sign of relief

A victim rescued

Held above the waves

The sense of accomplishment

And a little glimpse of meaning

What life is supposed to be

You gave, and you took away

But still I have those moments

To reflect on

When I too need saving

From the waters that surround
