Clinging To A Dream

Clinging to a dream

From when I was a spoiled kid

Working hard for something

That can’t be realized

Hanging on so tightly

To goals and aspirations

That just won’t fall in line

With the way the world has turned

Feel like I’ve walked forever

In the opposite direction

Towards a new horizon

A line I’ll never cross

The fallacy of sunken costs

Keeps me moving onward

Maybe it’s just time

To give up and turn around

Or could it be that it’s lying there

Just beyond this next hill

I’ll never know for sure

I just know I’m tired

And I’m not sure there’s anything to say
