Familiar Voice

The old familiar voice is back

The doubts and insecurities

Drowning out everything else

Bury me in the negative

Until I can’t see anything

But failure and impending doom

Let the waves roll in again

And drag me under the crushing force

I’ll never prove myself enough

To silence the critic in my head

There’s just no way to win this one

He’ll always find a way

Wake Up

Open your eyes

It’s time to wake up

Lift up that fog you’ve been living under

Face your true reality

Make it what you want

You’ve suffered long enough

Shake off the silence

Take back the control

Grab the reins

Seize the days

Shape the world the way you’d like

Don’t let others drag you down

Back into your slumber

Be what you were meant to be

Not what they make you think you are

Clear the sleep away

It’s time to start again

Inside

There’s a crack in the wall

Where the light shines through

The stone stood strong

In the face of the storm

But the worst has subsided

And nothing yet stirs inside

But maybe through that little break

The right things might make it past

And bring color back to dark spaces

So that it may once again

But all that it was meant to be

Inside that heart and soul

Took My Tongue

Sorry I can’t talk right now

She took my tongue away

There’s no room for anyone

Here in my little sphere

I won’t even look your direction

(I wasn’t looking then)

For fear of what might come my way

If somehow I let you in

I’ve been destroyed so many times

I’m still broken to the core

And I can’t piece me back together

If I’m waiting for the end

So let me be the lonely hermit

Let me sort out all my mess

I’m likely not good company anyway

But that’s a chat for another day
